Terrific Track Stars

Congratulations to the St. John's 2012 track team.  Under the direction of their coaches, Mrs. Grosskopf and Mrs. Stradley, students competed against other Catholic elementary schools.  Many brought back ribbons displaying their success in various age groups and events.  Go Jaguars!!

Kid-Biz Success

Tomorrow's CEO's practiced their business skills at St. John's Annual Kid-Biz Day!  Students from grades 3-6 set up shop and transformed the gym in a mini-shopping mall.  From sweet treats and trading cards to feathers for hair and fun 'n game raffles, students worked their business plan and endeavored to maximize their profits.  All students donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity.  A sincere thanks to Mr. Hilbert and Mr. Kamens for their time and effort in organizing this wonderful event!

May Crowning

Third grade led us in our traditional May Crowning of the Blessed Mother.  Each student processed into church donning their recent First Communion outfits and presented May with a flower.  All homerooms offered prayer intentions as we prayed the rosary during the service.  Throughout the month of May, homerooms will continue to reflect upon these prayer intentions when they pray the rosary.

Congratulations Jess!

Congratulations to 8th grader, Jess, earning first place for outstanding percussion soloist at the Darien Lake Music Festival.  Jess is a member of Mount St. Mary Academy's Junior Band and recently competed in the competition.  Jess and the Jazz Ensemble won their 7th grand championship for jazz, as well as first place for rhythms and and the highest rating of gold distinction.  We are very proud of this young lady's accomplishments and wish her many more years of success.  She rocks our world at St. John's School--perhaps one day you will be fortunate to hear her rock yours!

The Greats Are Among Us!

Primary students have been the reading biographies of inspiring people--from world leaders and saints to sports icons and celebrities--both past and present.  Their studies culminate with presentations to their peers in which they share some of the remarkable accomplishments they discovered!  Here are some favorites among the students...

Stations of Cross

Our 8th grade class led the school in prayer with their rendition of the Stations of the Cross.  The spoken reflections and depiction of Christ's passion helped to further prepare us for Easter.

Student Council

Under the guidance of Mr. James Werick, St. John's Student Council leads the school in various activities and assemblies throughout the year.  Students from grades 5 to 8 are elected as homeroom representatives and the entire school votes for the executive officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer).  Our proud executive officers are pictured below.
