Congratulations to the Class of 2015!

The 83rd commencement ceremony honoring the Class of 2015 took place at St. John the Baptist School in Kenmore. Rev. Michael Parker, Pastor, and Mrs. Cynthia Jacobs, Principal, challenged the graduates with Pope Francis’ words to take what they learned at their elementary school and, “To actively build a better world” as they move on to high school.

Kaliea Logal was awarded a $1,000 Continuing Catholic Education Scholarship from the school’s Home School Parent Association for her noteworthy scholastic achievement, along with her community service and character. Last year’s honoree, Allison Leahy, presented Logal with the award. The prestigious Joseph and Joan Denzak Memorial Scholarship was then presented to Jillian Niedzialowski; this award was established in 2014 in honor of life-long supporters of St. John’s School, Mr. Joseph and Joan Denzak of Ken-Ton to honor a student with strong academics, character, and service. Some of Denzak’s children, also alums of St. John’s, attended the ceremonies.

Victoria Franz and Patrick Trimper, receipients of the NYS Attorney General’s “Triple C Award” for Courage, Commitment & Character, addressed the those gathered in a poignant tribute to the bonds shared between the faculty and students, citing “classic lines” delivered by veteran teachers throughout their years at St. John’s. A class gift was presented to Principal Jacobs—an engraved paver that will be installed in the school’s park-like walkway.
