STATEWIDE PUPIL EVALUATION TESTING
All the schools in NYS will be administering the Pupil Evaluation Tests during the months of May and June. It is important that the children attend school on these days and that they be rested, have a nutritious breakfast in the morning, and be free of stress during this time. The schedules for these tests are as follows:
May 23 – June 1 Gr. 4 & 8NYS Science Performance Test
June 4 - Gr. 4 & 8 NYS Science Objective Assessment
June 14 @1:15 p.m. - Gr. 8 Integrated Algebra Exam
These tests are mandated by the State of New York and are administered annually.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

REGIONAL TRACK MEET
Track Coaches – Mrs. Debbie Grosskopf and Mrs. Andy Cammarata look forward to our students taking part in the regional track meet scheduled in early June at Parker Field beginning at 3:15 p.m. until we finish all events!

KidBiz
. . . is coming to St. John’s on Thursday May 24th after all lunch periods. We hope to have a big turn out and I hope everyone will have a good time helping our future entrepreneurs! Thank you, Bill Hilbert and Steve Kamens, for putting this worthy endeavor together and all the students and parents who assisted our young entrepreneurs!
8TH GRADE MOTHERS’ DAY PLANT SALE
Don’t forget to reserve the date to purchase your Mothers’ Day flowering plants ($2 each) or herbs ($2.50 each) which will be sold on Thursday May 10th and Friday May11th in the foyer of Klauder Hall. Any extra plants will be sold on Friday after every class had a chance to purchase a beautiful potted plant or two. Thank you for supporting this fundraiser for our 8th graders.
The Second Annual Spring Plant Sale (annuals sold in flats and hanging plants) order forms are asap with pick-up date of Thurs. May 24th
SPRING UNIFORMS
Just an update that our spring uniforms are in affect which is the option of wearing navy blue walking shorts made of cotton twill, only a white polo short sleeve shirt or a white Peter Pan collar blouse. Shoes and white socks must also be worn.
A REMINDER TO PARENTS FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Listed below are the NY State requirements for students entering the following grades in September, 2012:
Kindergarten –
- The second MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is required by the first day of school*. Additionally, a current physical exam, completed after 9/7/11, is also required.
2nd, 4th, or 7th Grade –
- A current physical exam, completed after 9/7/11
6th Grade –
- The Tdap (pertussis) booster is required by the first day of school if your child is 11 years old*. Students turning 11 in the fall will be tracked by the Health Office and you will receive a reminder.

*A student who is not in compliance with immunization regulations will be excluded from school until a valid record is submitted.

2012 – 2013 (Next year) B.E.S.T. PROGRAM
For next year’s B.E.S.T. program the following parents agreed to help “chair” these events. The “Football Pool” is being chaired by Jessica and Ed Sidor; “Candy Bar” fundraiser is Peg Gianadda which is held in September; Maureen Donnelly will chair the “Innisbrook Wrap” in October; Donna Short will chair the “Easter Candy Sale” in January; and Angel Panowicz will chair our Gourmet Creations fundraiser held in March. Thank you for your gift on time, assistance, and for your continued support of St. John’s School!

Last month you received an update accounting of what you have earned this year towards your B.E.S.T. Program. Only families who still had an outstanding balance received this reminder.
