Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

Spanish 8
This year is coming to an end much too quickly!  This month the 8th graders will take the oral section of the New York State Proficiency Exam.  The students are scheduled for Monday, May 17th or Monday, May 24th.  They should be reviewing their notes and vocabulary words nightly.  Our grammar focus this month is on irregular verbs in the preterite tense.  We are also looking forward to our cindo de mayo fiesta and the class trip to Letchworth State Park on Friday, May 21st.  Signed permission slips and $20 are due by Friday, May 14th.

Spanish 7
The 7th graders just finished a unit on identifying places.  We are now beginning words that describe locations.  On cinco de mayo we will be celebrating with a fiesta in class.  A video on the history of this holiday was shown in class.  Students should begin to review their notes for the final exam.  Ten to fifteen minutes of study on school nights will make a huge difference on exam day in June. 

Spanish 6

We will begin the month of May with a cinco de mayo fiesta in class.  Students watched a video on the history of this Mexican holiday.  On Friday, May 7th we will conclude our unit on verbs with a quiz.  Students should be studying vocabulary and reviewing thier notes for 10-15 minutes on school nights.  This will make exam day in June much less stressful.  Our next unit involves using adverbs in conversation. 

Spanish 4 & 5

Our unit on days of the week, months of the year and writing dates in Spanish is finished.  The 5th graders will end the year learning some vocabulary words about classroom objects.  The 4th graders will have a mini geography unit on the countries of South America.  We will learn their names in Spanish and study their locations.  It is important to know where Spanish is spoken in the world!  This will also prepare the children for 5th grade Social Studies.
