So much has been happening at SJS.  Catholic Schools Week was a blast!  It all began with a wonderful Mass that included faculty, staff, parents, and students.  Mount St. Mary's Band performed for us, and we had so much fun dancing and singing with them.  The next day, we had a visit from Our Lady of Hope School, and it was heart-warming to hear all the great things St. Luke's does for everyone.  They are truly a blessing.  A fun-time was had by all at the obstacle course.  The week ended with an amazing Talent Show.  We have some extremely talented students (and faculty) at SJS!

In Social Studies, we will soon be leaving the U.S. and Canada and heading down to Latin America.  We have learned so much about Canada, our neighbor to the north.  Can you name the 10 provinces and three territories of Canada?  Your children can!

The D.A.R.E. Program begins on Friday, February 10th.  Det. Goetz from the Town of Tonawanda Police Department is our D.A.R.E. officer, and he will be working with the fifth grade students.

The February book report is on Inventors.  A regular 5th grade written report plus the cover are due Monday, February 13th.  Happy reading!

On Tuesday, February 14th, we will celebrate Valentine's Day.  Please feel free to give out valentines and/or share a treat (candy or cookies) with the class.

Our winter recess will begin the week of February 20th.  School resumes on Monday, February 27th.  Enjoy your week off!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
