St. John's offers assemblies throughout the year to enhance students learning and interest. Below is a photo essay featuring some of this year's presentations. Author Marsha Hayles provided insights to the world of publishing to students in October. Additionally, assemblies have included Chris Johnson's Character Building presentation, the Freedom Stairway, a mobile planetarium, Sleep-Out for Hunger's Steve Ash, Mrs. Claus's Story Hour, the Dairy Show, and more!
Coming Soon
The Rope Warrior David Fisher will be coming to St. John's to thrill and provide skills to students combining his jump rope techniques with a positive message.
In October, St. John’s had an author visit by
Marsha Hayles. In her animated presentation, Playing with Words, the primary grades enjoyed her stories and songs. Her focus with the older students was on writing fiction.
During her presentation, Working with Words, the older students learned tips on fostering the creative process and revisions,
some insider secrets and how she became an author. Titles of Ms. Hayles books are: He Saves the Day, Pajamas Anytime, The Feathered Crown, Beach Play and Pet of a Pet. St. John’s students were the FIRST students to hear her read from her new picture book, Bunion Burt, that will be on sale
November 10th.
After the presentations representatives from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades had the opportunity to chat and have lunch with Ms. Hayles. Everyone enjoyed Ms. Hayles enthusiasm and lively presentations.
